Washington, D.C., November 17, 2006 - The Washington Nationals today announced that the franchise will open two additional retail stores in the Metropolitan Area; with the first opening slated for this Friday, November 17 in White Flint, located on Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, Maryland. A second store will open a week later on Friday, November 24 in Washington Square at 1050 Connecticut Avenue at L Street in downtown Washington. The original team store, located at the Main Gate at RFK Stadium, current home of the Washington Nationals, has been offering Nationals fans a full array of team branded merchandise since late 2004, just prior to the Nationals Inaugural 2005 season. The stores will also feature exclusive game worn merchandise.
“Since the team started playing in Washington, the sale of Nationals merchandise has been very successful,” commented Nationals President Stan Kasten. “We found that team merchandise is popular all over the DC region and we want to make it even easier for our fans to shop for Nats gear. With the holidays coming up, this made a lot of sense.”
The White Flint store will be open through January 7, 2007; while the downtown location will remain open through the grand opening of the new Nationals Ballpark in 2008. On Saturday, November 18, from noon until 3:00 p.m., two of the renowned Washington Nationals “Presidents” and team mascot Screech will be on hand to meet and greet guests at the White Flint store, located on the Second Level in the Bloomingdale’s Wing.
