|Washington, D.C., June 26, 2009 – Lerner Enterprises, Washington, D.C.’s largest private real estate developer and The Tower Companies, the largest Green Builders in the Nation’s Capital, both of Rockville, Maryland, are proud to announce they have retained the Washington, D.C. office of Gensler Associates to renovate their award winning landmark trophy office building Washington Square. Washington Square is located at 1050 Connecticut Avenue at L Street, NW in the heart of the Central Business District of Washington, D.C.

Lerner, a principal of Lerner Enterprises. “Tower and Lerner are very excited to begin this renovation as we view this as an opportunity to enhance one of Washington’s classic office buildings. The renovations will introduce a new generation of current and future tenants and guests to this modern masterpiece,” he added.
Washington Square, a one-million square foot office building with 20 retail shops such as The Art of Shaving, Victoria’s Secret and Morton’s – The Steakhouse, will begin the renovation later this year. The renovation will include new atrium and lobby lighting, a new “Pilkington” storefront glazing system and significant audio/visual enhancements to the office and parking garage lobbies. Other improvements include enhanced access control systems, a modernized digital elevator system, as well as an additional landscaping package to increase the amount of green space on Connecticut Avenue and additional bike racks to promote the use of non-vehicular transportation. One of the most dramatic visible improvements will be the exterior flamed granite sidewalk that will wrap the exterior of the building that will create a feeling of connectivity to the building.
